23/08/2010 PWA Fuerteventura.
Hier kort verslag in het Engels;
Just as every year the organisation was perfect with lots of spectators and very good wind. During the competition I used the F2 rodeo 98 with the choco 18cm starfish fin and my favorite sail: the gaastra echo LE 4,4.
Day 1:

Only the first round of the single elimination could be completed as the wind filled in later that day.
Day 2:
--------
My first opponent was my Belgian fellow Dieter Van der Eycken B35. My heat was perfect and I even scored the best points that day. also my next heat was very good against Maarten Van Ochten H73. The next to face was Taty Frans NB9 but I failed to end 5th in the first single elimination.
Day 3:
--------
I managed to keep my 5th place in the double elimination. I won against Nicolas Akgazciyan F400, Bjorn sarahgoza NB11 and Leo Ray F200, but I was stopped by Tonky Frans NB7.
Day 4:
--------
I had to do better to keep my overall position in 3th place, and so I did. I won several heats in a row against new talent of Bonaire Endro Finies NB77, trainingspartner Davy Scheffers H311 who performed really strong. Then I took revenche over Tonky Frans NB7. I had to give my very best to beat Kiri Thode NB61. In the final against Gollito Estredo V01 I wanted to do my moves higher and more radical but I crashed a litlle bit too much so Gollito won, leaving me in 2nd place. Kiri was 3th.
Day 5:

My day was great, things could only became better. To defend my 2nd place in the double elimination I sailed a great heat against Tonky Frans who had worked himself through the elimination ladder by winning 5 heats in a row. It was a nervous moment to wait for the decision of the jury.
I won with a 3/2 decision. In the final I performed much better against Gollito then the day before. It was again a stressfull waiting period but the jury decided with a 3/2 that Gollito won.
I ended 2nd in this 2nd double and 3th overall for the event. I could hold my 3th position in the overall year ranking. So I am really very glad with these results.

19/07/2010 PWA Lanzarote.
Dit jaar hadden we niet zo veel geluk met de wind, Er is maar 1 singel afgewerkt voor de mannen en de vrouwen. Helaas is er dit jaar voor vrouwen maar 1 event dus is er al de uitslag voor 2010.
De Eerste dag was het registratie in de ochtend van 10 tot 12u na de registratie begon al meteen de wind toetenemen en was goed voor de Echo LE 5.2 en Rodeo 98 met de 18cm choco fins en dit was het standaard setje voor de hele week. Maar eerst mogelijke start wa 13u maar de wind liet het afweten voor die dag.
Dag 2 Om 9u skippers meeting maar er was geen wind maar om 13u begon het toch tewaaien en starten met de compititie.
Eerste 2 rondes ging gingen goed, eerst tegen Paul Zeper en daarna tegen Maarten Van Ochten die dit jaar zeer sterk bezig is.
Dan werdt er gestreden voor de top 4 en moest ik tegen Tonky Frans, Ik wist dat alles mogelijk was en wie beste vaart op dat moment zal winnen.
Deze heat begon ik zeer sterk met hoge Kono, Shaka into AirCanaBrava, Future, Culo, Skopu, Clewflaka, Burner, ShovitSpock Diablo, Dubble Airfunnel, en nog paar moves. maar bleek een half punt teweinig te zijn. De Kono  was out te ver upwind en Shaka into AirCanaBrava hebben ze niet duidelijk gezien wat voor move het was.
Maar Tonky vaarde ook zeer sterk dus het was heel erg close.
Dag 3 en 4 werden de finals nog verder afgewerkt, Phill Soltysiak Eindigde 4de, Tonky Frans 3de, Kiri Thode 2de en Gollito Estredo werdt 1ste
Op de laatste dag werdt nog de Dubbel gestart maar kon niet worden afgewerkt

Next is de Pwa in fuerteventura maar eerst 2 weken Grancanaria voor training jumps en waves. Ik hou jullie op de hoogte

23/06/2010 EFPT Milos Beach Lefkada Vassiliki Festival.
Hier kort verslag in het Engels:
Here a brief report about the efpt event at the beautiful island of Lefkada, Greece.
The event took place on 2 spots: the first 2 days at Vassiliki and the last days at Milos Beach.

We immediately moved to Lefkada after the event at Sardinia to have training in Milos and Vassiliki.
Milos is very beautiful and calm. Nearly every afternoon the wind rises for 5,6-5,2 sails. The wind is cross-onshore from the left with nice chop for powermoves.
Vassiliki is totally different: the gusty wind here is cross-offshore from thee right and starts after 4pm during 2 hours for 5,2-4,8 sails on flat water.

The first day of the event the wind started earlier as usual: at 2pm we could use our 5,6 sails already and later in the afternoon the wind increased to using 4,8 sails fully powered.
I used the F2 rodeo 98 and the gaastra echo LE 4,8. I won my first heat against Genkel G-984.
My next opponent was the local rider Promponas GRE-393, a very talented guy. I kept controle and won the heat as I landed all my best moves.
Next was Yarden Meir from Israel. He can sail incredible heats with sick moves but I could win without any mistake. In the final I met Akgazciyan F400. The gusty wind dropped so it was hard to chose the best rigs. I took the F2 rodeo 107 that plans a little earlier and keeps on planing, with the gaastra echo LE 5,2. This seemed to be the best choice. I started far way off to use the best wind. Akgazyian took the risk to stay in front of the beach using the gusts. My tactics seemed better and I could bust out all my powermoves while Akgazyan was struggling to get some power on the inside. So I won the first single elimination.
The 2nd day the wind stayed the same, good for 4,8 full power. But after a 2 hours waiting time before my heat, the wind died a bit.
Edvan Souza from Brasil won against Akgaziyan to face me in the final of the double elimination.
The wind was super gusty and the wind turned more offshore. So it was pumping out of the wind and being overpowered in the gusts of wind. The heat ended without any wind.
But the heat counted as we had enough moves. I was happy when I was announced as the winner of the double elimination.

I also won a price of the internet voting and a free dinner for 2 persons. And I joined the jury of the Miss bikini contest, not bad!

Day 3 we drove to Milos beach, a 40 minutes drive. I like this spot more because of its consistent wind and good chop. But the wind only showed up during the afternoon for the biggest rigs to die before the start of the first heat.
Day 4 same story with fog that blocked the thermal winds. So no further eliminations could be run.

06/06/2010 EFPT Sardinia Freestyle Grand Prix.
Het was een zeer groot succes dit jaar, we hadden elke dag wind voor een 5.6 tot 3.6 full power.
In 4 dagen deden we 3 dubbel eliminaties + super sessie met de RedBull ramp.

Dag 1 zag er al meteen zeer goed uit, ik was powerd up met de Gaastra Echo LE 4.8 en F2 Rodeo 98.
Singel eliminatie en de Dubbel wist ik te winnen en de 2 plaats was voor Davy Scheffer H311 en 3de plaats voor Antony Ruenes F85

Dag 2 de wind was full power, iedereen tuigde de kleinste zeilen er waren wind stoten van 60knopen!! Ik tuigde de nieuwe 2011 Gaastra IQ 3.6, Eerste keer dat ik het zeil gebruikte, in de warm up voelde het zeil zeer comfortabel aan en super goede controle in de high wind. In de 2de singel ging ik voor de big air moves zoals high Ponch, Airflakas, Toad, Tbones enz.. Ik wist elke heat te winnen en de final was tegen Nicolas Akgazciyan F400 die zeer sterk is in de high wind. toch wist ik deze heat tewinnen in extreme omstandigheden.
De 2de dubbel eliminatie nam de wind af maar nog de meeste hadden 4.0 en 4.2 op staan. De finale nam ik de 4.8 en was erg powerd up. Deze heat moest ik weer tegen Akgazcian en ook deze heat wist ik te winnen.

Dag 3 in de ochtend zag er niet zo belovend uit, de wind was zeer zwak voor een 5.6, maar na een dag 3.6 had niemand echt zin om weer het grooste zeil te nemem. In de namiddag begon het toe te nemen, en was genoeg voor mijn Echo LE 5.2. deze dag was vooral Davy scheffers was onfire hij wist van mij te winnen in de halve finale van de 3de singel. Daarna de finalen tegen Akgazcian. Ik moest tegen Edvan Souza BRA250 in de losers finale, Edvan vaarden een zeer sterke heat maar ik zelf had mijn beste heat van het event en wist te winnen en eindigde 3de in de 3de singel.

Dag 4 In de ochtend zag er zeer goed uit voor 4.2, 4.8, maar later bleek de wind al snel af te nemen voor 5.2, 5.6 en groot board F2 Rodeo 107
De 3de en de laatste dubbel wist ik zeer goed te starten in won tegen Edvan, Akgazciyan en dan de finale wist ik te winnen tegen Davy Scheffers, Maar om de dubbel te winnen moet je 2x winnen
En moest na een keer tegen Davy, Het was nipt, maar deze keer haalde ik het net niet laatste min had ik paar lompe crashes en Davy won een zeer sicke heat en hij had het zeker verdiend gewonnen!!

Daarna was er nog een super sessie met de redbull ramp. deze wist Akgazciyan tewinnen met tabletop forward, Ik werd 2de met een airchacho

11/05/2010 Podersdorf World Cup Freestyle PWA/EFPT.
Kort verslag in het Engels:
The PWA Podersdorf World Cup freestyle eventually turned out to be succesfull by unexpected wind on the last day.
We were standby during 5 days waiting for wind. To create the atmosphere I decided to start tow-in freestyle windsurf behind a jetski. I was a BIG succes as 10.000 people watched the show. I was so excited and the crowds pushed me to my best performance ever in these conditions. In the evening Tonky Frans showed why he is the king of the ramp, and the party's were also awesome. The first competitors were supposed to hit the water very early at 6.00 am. I was lucky to start in heat number 14 so I could sleep a little bit longer.
On day 3 a tow-in competition was set up with € 1.000 price money. The best 8 freestylers were invited to join the competition. I knew I had a chance to take the scalp because of my experience with tow in. Taty Frans landed a double flaka, so I had to do better and tried a culo which I had never succeeded before in no wind. But the speed gave me enough power to land it and the jury pointed me as the winner with Taty in 2nd place and Nicolas Ackghazyian in 3th.
On day 4 and 5 we spend the time by chilling around and doing SUP.
The final day only 5 knots were predicted, but in the morning at 5.30 am during the skippers meeting the wind blew full power. I was not very prepaired without breakfast but all went good. My first heat was no problem but the second was against my training fellow davy Scheffers. It seemed to be the best heat of the event. The wind picked up and I was full power with gaastra echo 5,6 on the F2 rodeo. At the start I had some winddips while Davy scored some power moves like culo and burner. But I felt no stress as the heats were 9 minutes with 3 best tricks on each side. I showed my best and landed most of my powermoves and double moves to meet Andre Paskowski in the next round. This heat I won also but then I had to face world champion Gollito Estredo. I pulled out the very best of me with higher and more radical moves. It was a tough battle but I had a good feeling after it. Unexpected I won the heat, I couldn't believe it. I was stoked! In the final I faced Taty Frans and I knew I had an opportunity to win the heat and the event. The wind dropped so we had to pump to bust out the moves, but no powermoves were possible. Unluckiliy I started my heat 5 seconds to early with a culo which didn't count of course... But Taty earned the victory and I was very happy with my second place in the PWA Podersdorf world cup 2010.
Now I'm super motivated to stay in the top 3 of the world!

3. Gollito Estredo (Venezuela fanatic - north)

20/04/2010 EFPT Mondial du vent
Mondial du vent is een groot, goed georganizeerd event met erg veel bezoekers.
De spot is perfect voor freestyle als het tramontana waait, maar die hebben we dus niet gehad, de eerste 2dagen was er niets van wind.
Op zondag begon het dan toch wat te waaien en besloten om zo snel mogelijk van start te gaan voor dat de wind weer ging droppen.
De eerste ronden was er zeer weinig wind en moest je het echt van de vlagen hebben dus werden de heats steeds verlengt en gecanseld.
2de ronden zag het er veel beter uit wind nam toe maar steeds erg vlagerig en erg choppy dus was niet al te makkelijk voor de technise power moves.
Mijn eerste 2heats ging zonder problemen en in de halve moest ik tegen Adrian Boholz die zeer sterk bezig was, maar ik ging voor de big move zoals burner, culo,enz die erg triky zijn in deze condities.
De finalen tegen Dieter besloot ik mijn 5.6 interuilen voor mijn favorite zeil Gaastra Echo LE 5.2 op de F2 rodeo 98, Dieter ging op erg save en ging voor de hoeveelheid moves. Maar ik deed mijn ding, eerste move air burner 540, shaka flaka, kono, ponch enz..., maar laatste min ging het fout door culo crash ging mijn schoentje uit kan ik niets meer. Maar toch wist ik de deze heat te winnen.
Daarna starten ze de double elimenation maar die hebben ze niet kunnen af werken.

De wind was een beetje afwezig. Afgelopen week heb ik 3dagen underpowerd met 5.6-5.2 en 1 dag goed voor 5.2. Maar voor volgende week zien de voorspellingen er goed uit, dus meer actie comming soon!!

Na twee en half succesvolle jaren en met dank aan Maui Sails is het nu tijd voor verandering.
Met Gaastra hoop ik mijn succes verder te zetten in de toekomst; het geeft mij weer nieuwe energie om het beste van mezelf te geven.

De zeilen zien er super uit; de Echo’s zijn gewoon één van de beste pure Freestyle zeilen op de markt , super licht, stabiel , voldoende power en dit in combinatie met de F2 Rodeo, is dit gewoon het radicaalste Freestyleset dat je maar kan hebben. Dit helpt me om tot het hoogste Freestylelevel te komen en goede resultaten te halen in de toekomst.
Ook ben ik blij dat ik samen met Kiri, Tonky en Davy in het team zit; het zijn tenslotte mijn vrienden en we pushen het Freestyle niveau tot het hoogste level met nieuwe moves. Met andere woorden een dreamteam.
Vanaf 1 januari ben ik in Zuid Afrika om te trainen in de golven en Freestyle. Verslag , foto’s enz.. kan je allemaal volgen op deze vernieuwde website.
